Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) is about 25 km from the city centre. The Aeroexpress H1 bus runs to the centre (28 May metro and the railway station) for ~1.30 AZN on a BakıKart (every 20 min by day). The official fixed-fare taxi is 40–50 AZN; metered/app taxis run 30–40 AZN. Add your hotel on the Day-by-Day tab for an exact distance and fare. Verified Jul 2026.

Best time to visit
April–June and September–October have warm, pleasant weather. Summer is hot and humid by the Caspian; the famous Baku wind blows year-round (the city's name means "city of winds"). Winters are cool and damp.

Getting around
Get a BakuKart for the clean, cheap metro and buses; the Old City and boulevard are very walkable. Use Bolt for taxis. Gobustan and Absheron sights need a tour or hired car. Tap a <strong>BakiKart</strong> card for the metro and buses (a flat ~0.50 AZN per ride, so no day pass is needed); the airport Aero Express bus uses it too.

<strong>City Sightseeing Baku</strong> runs an open-top hop-on-hop-off loop (~25 AZN, 1-day) past the Old City (Icherisheher), the Flame Towers, the seaside Boulevard and the Heydar Aliyev Center — a quick way to string together Baku's spread-out landmarks.
