Barcelona El Prat (BCN) is about 13 km from the city centre. The Aerobús reaches Plaça Catalunya in ~35 min (~€7.75); the R2 Nord train goes to Sants in 20 min (~€5.05); Metro L9 Sud needs the special airport ticket (~€5.90) — ordinary metro tickets aren't valid to the airport. The metro is fast, cheap and easy (get a T-casual multi-ride). The old town and Eixample are walkable on a grid; buses and the funicular reach Montjuïc. Watch your bag — Barcelona is notorious for pickpockets. The Sagrada Família and cathedral require covered shoulders and knees. Security is airport-style at the big Gaudí sites, so travel light and arrive a little early.
