KL is tropical year-round (27–35°C, high humidity). Mar–Apr and Jun–Jul are the driest months. Heavy rains can occur any time — always carry a small umbrella. Eid and Chinese New Year bring festive atmospheres but higher hotel prices.

Getting around KL
KL's rail network (Rapid KL MRT, LRT, Monorail) covers major attractions. Get a Touch 'n Go card (RM 10 at stations) for all rail and bus lines. Grab (ride-hailing) is affordable and essential — metered taxis are less reliable and often refuse meters. KL offers one of the world's great food cities at any budget. Mamak (Indian-Muslim) restaurants are open 24/7 — roti canai (RM 1.50) and teh tarik are unmissable. Jalan Alor for night street food, Chinatown for breakfast, KLCC area for international dining.

Indians are visa-exempt for up to 30 days (extended until 31 Dec 2026 for tourism, business & transit). However, you must fill the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online — free, takes 5 min — at least 3 days before arrival at www.imigresen-online.imi.gov.my. Passport must be valid for 6+ months. Carry proof of return ticket and hotel booking.

KL offers outstanding value. Hawker meals cost RM 5–15. The Rapid KL pass (RM 10–30) covers unlimited rail travel. Most malls are free to enter. GST has been replaced by SST (6%) — check restaurant receipts as service charges vary.

KL is hot and humid. Plan outdoor activities (Batu Caves, Botanical Garden) for early morning (07:00–09:00). Afternoons are best spent in air-conditioned malls, museums or aquariums. Stay hydrated — fresh coconut water (RM 5) is everywhere.

Malaysia is a Muslim-majority country. Dress modestly at mosques and religious sites (cover shoulders and knees; headscarves for women available at mosque entrances). Pork is widely available but labeled halal/non-halal. Alcohol is available at non-Muslim establishments.
