Muscat International Airport (MCT) is about 20 km from Muttrah / old Muscat (25–40 min). A metered Mwasalat taxi is the usual choice — roughly OMR 9–18 to central areas; agree the fare or ensure the meter is on. The A1 airport bus runs to Ruwi bus station for about OMR 0.5. October to April is ideal — warm, dry days and balmy evenings. Summer (May–Sep) is very hot (40°C+), so save outdoor sights for early morning and evening and use the cooler coast and mountains.

Muscat is spread along the coast — a rental car or taxis (Otaxi/Marhaba apps) are the practical way around; public buses are limited. The wadis and desert really need a car or a tour, ideally a 4x4. There is no metro and <strong>Mwasalat</strong> public buses are limited, so most travellers hire a car or use metered taxis (agree the fare first); the <strong>Big Bus Muscat</strong> hop-on-hop-off runs ~OMR 18 (1-day).
