Zvartnots International Airport (EVN) is about 12 km from the city centre. Bus 201 runs to the centre (Amiryan Street, near Republic Square) for 300 AMD in ~30 min. Best time to visit
May, June, September and October are ideal. July and August are dry and often above 35°C. Winter is cold but clear, and Ararat is at its most striking against snow.

Getting around
Central Yerevan is walkable. Use GG or Yandex Go for taxis — they are extremely cheap. The single metro line is limited. Day trips to Garni, Geghard and Sevan are easiest with a hired driver, which costs little.

Mount Ararat
The mountain that defines Armenia is in Turkey and the border is closed. It is visible from Yerevan on clear mornings, best from the Cascade top or Victory Park. Haze often hides it by afternoon — look early.

Indian passport holders need an Armenian e-Visa applied for in advance — visa on arrival is explicitly NOT available to Indian nationals at any border. AMD 3,000 for 21 days, about 3 working days to process, at evisa.mfa.am. Travel insurance is mandatory for Indian applicants, and you will need either a qualifying third-country visa or a return ticket plus invitation and bank statement.

Khorovats (barbecue, the national obsession), dolma, lavash baked in a tonir, harissa, jingalov hats and Sevan trout. Armenian apricots and pomegranates are exceptional. Areni is one of the world's oldest wine regions.

Money
Dram only — nowhere takes foreign currency directly. Cards work in central Yerevan but carry cash for markets, monasteries and day trips. Exchange booths downtown give better rates than the airport.

Language
Armenian, with Russian widely spoken. English is common among younger people and in tourism. Armenians are famously hospitable — expect to be offered coffee by strangers.
